What happens between tapping start and seeing a face

Five steps, and the site is doing something at each one. Here is both halves of it — what you do on the left, what actually happens on the right — with nothing dressed up and nothing left out.

Both halves of it

  1. 01
    You

    You tap Start a chat

    What happens

Nothing is spent yet. The site checks you are signed in and that you have a free match left, then puts you in the queue. No profile to fill in first, no card asked for.

  2. 02
    You

You pick video, voice or text

    What happens

That choice is the only thing sent with the request. There is no gender box and no country box on random matching — it connects you to whoever is free at that moment, and that is the honest description of it.

  3. 03
    You

    You wait a few seconds

    What happens

Two people are being put in the same room. If nobody suitable is free the wait stretches rather than failing — quiet hours are slower, late evening is fastest.

  4. 04
    You

    You see a face

    What happens

The call opens. Your camera and theirs, nobody else in the room. Whatever the two of you agree on happens here, and nothing about the site pushes it one way or the other.

  5. 05
    You

You keep going, or you leave

    What happens

Leaving is one tap and needs no explanation. Next puts you back in the queue; Stop takes you out of matching entirely. Neither costs you anything extra.

Three ways to show up

Video

Both cameras on. It is the default and it is what most people come for, but it is not compulsory — you can start elsewhere and move to it.

Voice

Audio only, both ways. Useful when you are somewhere you would rather not be seen, or when you want to hear how someone talks before deciding anything.

Text

Typing only. The slowest way in and the easiest to leave, which is exactly why some people start here. Nothing stops you turning the camera on later in the same session.

You can move between them mid-session. Switching down to voice or text is never treated as a step backwards.

What it costs, plainly

What the free start covers
You get matched and talking without paying first — a set number of free matches on the account rather than an unlimited free tier. A matched call also opens on a free countdown, and you get an on-screen notice a few seconds before that runs out, so coins never start going without you seeing it.
What happens after that
Calls run on coins you buy once. Packages start at $1.99, and a notice comes up before coins start going, so nothing gets spent quietly. There is no plan renewing in the background and nothing to remember to cancel.
Why there is no single price per minute
Different people on the site are priced differently, so any single number printed here would be wrong for most calls. The rate for the person you are about to talk to is shown before the call begins.

When something goes wrong

Nobody is connecting
Usually the time of day. Matching pairs live people, so at quiet hours there are simply fewer of them awake. Switching to voice or text widens the pool, and so does trying again in an hour.
The call froze or dropped
Almost always the connection at one end. Ending and starting again is usually faster than waiting it out.
Someone behaved badly
Leave first, then deal with it — you do not owe anyone the last word. Block from their profile and they will not be matched to you again; report anything that belongs in front of a moderator. Moderation runs around the clock.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need an account?
You need to be signed in to be matched, because matching pairs two real accounts and blocking has to stick to something. Looking around the site does not require one.
Can I choose who I get?
Not on random matching — it takes whoever is free. If choosing matters to you, browse who is online instead and start the call from there. That list can be narrowed; the random button cannot.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
For a video call it goes both ways, and that symmetry is most of what keeps things civil. Voice and text exist precisely so that you are not forced onto camera before you want to be.
Is the call recorded?
Nothing is recorded on your side for you to find later. Recording another person without their knowledge breaks the rules and is grounds for a ban.
What does Next actually do?
Ends the current call and puts you straight back in the queue. The other person is not told why and does not need to be — leaving without a reason is a normal thing to do here.
