Video
Both cameras on. It is the default and it is what most people come for, but it is not compulsory — you can start elsewhere and move to it.
Five steps, and the site is doing something at each one. Here is both halves of it — what you do on the left, what actually happens on the right — with nothing dressed up and nothing left out.
You tap Start a chat
Nothing is spent yet. The site checks you are signed in and that you have a free match left, then puts you in the queue. No profile to fill in first, no card asked for.
You pick video, voice or text
That choice is the only thing sent with the request. There is no gender box and no country box on random matching — it connects you to whoever is free at that moment, and that is the honest description of it.
You wait a few seconds
Two people are being put in the same room. If nobody suitable is free the wait stretches rather than failing — quiet hours are slower, late evening is fastest.
You see a face
The call opens. Your camera and theirs, nobody else in the room. Whatever the two of you agree on happens here, and nothing about the site pushes it one way or the other.
You keep going, or you leave
Leaving is one tap and needs no explanation. Next puts you back in the queue; Stop takes you out of matching entirely. Neither costs you anything extra.

Audio only, both ways. Useful when you are somewhere you would rather not be seen, or when you want to hear how someone talks before deciding anything.
Typing only. The slowest way in and the easiest to leave, which is exactly why some people start here. Nothing stops you turning the camera on later in the same session.
You can move between them mid-session. Switching down to voice or text is never treated as a step backwards.
People are on camera right now. The first match is free.
